Tirana
Painted tower blocks, bunkers turned into museums, and more cafés per street than anywhere in Europe.
[Intro paragraph — replace me.] Most visitors give Tirana one night on the way to the coast. Give it two. The centre is compact and walkable, the food scene has jumped in the last few years, and the city's recent history — from Ottoman mosque to communist bunkers to pastel-painted socialist blocks — is all within a twenty-minute stroll of Skanderbeg Square.
