Where to base yourself
- Sarandë — the best base for the south: Blue Eye, Gjirokastër, Butrint and the Ksamil boats all leave from here.
- Ksamil — for boat trips to the islands and a quick hop to Butrint.
- Vlorë — for the Karaburun and Sazan Island speedboat day.
- Tirana — walking tours, Bunk'Art, the Dajti cable car, and day trips to Berat and Kruja.
When to go
Boat trips run roughly May to October and sell out in July and August. Hikes in Theth and Valbona are best June to September. City tours in Tirana run all year.
